Modern high technology is transforming the way we work and is of benefit to all of the society.

Rapid scientific progress and modern high technology has transformed the life of man. It has raised the standard of living and made his life very comfortable. The homes and workplaces are equipped with all sorts of comforts. The market is flooded with all types of goods that reduce drudgery. New innovations have improved the working efficiency of man in every sphere.

Computers have replaced ‘typewriters. So all the routine work is now done on computers. Banks, hospitals, business houses, service industries all store their data on computers. Computers have reduced laborious paper work.

Educational institutions made use of modern gadgets like overheads projectors and computers to impart knowledge.

Hospital equipments are always being upgraded. New innovations are constantly being made to facilitate check ups and operations.

New and modern machines in factories has greatly reduced dependence on manpower and improved efficiency in work and the quality of product.

Improvement in transportation and communication facilities has increased mobility of man and goods. It has made the world a smaller place and thus increased international trade and business. It has brought about globalization and liberalization. International business has brought the countries closer.

Better transportation and communication facilities have increased migration of people all over the world. People from developing nations are moving to advance and developed countries for better educational and job opportunities. They bring back valuable foreign exchanged to their countries. The advanced countries are able to get skilled labour from these nations.

Man has made great progress in space technology. Now many countries have their own satellites. It is through these satellites that we have facilities like internet, television, mobile phones, latest weather forecast and live telecast of events.

Thus we can see how scientific progress has greatly transformed the life of man in every respect. The pace of life and work has increased tremendously and so has efficiency. Without all these innovations and improvements life of man would indeed have been different.

How does improvement in technology affect life, tradition and culture?

Man has become materialistic and competitive. He wants to get ahead of others. He doesn’t want to be left behind. More and more people are joining the rate race. The place of life has increased. He wants to acquire more and more material wealth earn money. His values and his outlook to life have changed.

Improvement in transportation and communication facilities has increased mobility of man and goods. It has made the world a smaller place and thus increased international trade and business. It has brought about globalization and liberalization.

Improvement in technology has increased the pace of life. Man’s values have changed. He doesn’t want to lead a life of simplicity and has few wants. He is not satisfied with what he has. He wants to acquire more and more.

As the global culture has set in more and more people are beginning to be influenced by the cultures of other nations. The people migrating from the developing countries to the developed countries blindly copy the western style of living. The young generation especially is greatly influenced by the culture and the high standard of living of the people. They blindly imitate the foreigners. 

Some begin to lose their attachment to their country. They don’t want to return to their homeland. Sometimes it leads to conflicts in the family and generation gap.
With the setting in of globalization we expect a greater understanding among people of different cultures and nations. There can be an intermingling of cultures and a new composite culture and evolve. People will be more broadminded and have respect for other cultures.
